The Taylorsville Lady Tartars earned their sixth win of the young season on Thursday night with a 10-0 shutout over their cross-county rivals from Mize.
Senior pitcher Lauren Stringer came out dominating both at the plate and on the mound for the Tartars. She hit a double to drive in one of four runs for Taylorsville in the first inning. Stringer also pitched five innings, allowing just one hit and zero runs while striking out eight batters.
The Lady Tartars racked up eight hits on the night. Kolten Blakeney, Emma Rankin, and Tia Keyes each registered multiple hits. Blakeney went an impressive three for three at the plate, and Rankin led the team with three RBIs as Taylorsville strolled to a run-rule finish in the fifth inning and a 10-0 victory.
Taylorsville is now 6-1 on the season, and tomorrow night they will travel to Ellisville to take on the undefeated South Jones Lady Braves. Mize is still close by with a 6-2 overall record, and will look to return to their winning ways on Saturday when they host the Brookhaven Panthers.
