South Jones, yet again, will face Hattiesburg in the Class 5A baseball playoffs.

On Saturday, South Jones (16-10) swept Natchez (17-9) in its second-round playoff series with a 7-6 win in Game 2.

The Braves advance to round three and will face Hattiesburg for the third year in a row.

Three pitchers took to the mound on Saturday. Senior LHP Ricky Boleware started the game and in three innings pitched collected the win. Boleware allowed three earned runs on four hits. He improves to 6-1 on the season.

Tyler Ducksworth tossed another three innings, and John Mitchell closed out the game in the seventh to get the save.

Natchez made things interesting in the seventh. Trailing 7-4, Natchez scored two runs in the seventh and tried for a third but a steal attempted at home with two outs was unsuccessful.

The Bulldogs started the game hot offensively with three straight base hits to begin the first, including a two-run triple by Shavoke Herrington. Herrington later scored on a passed ball, and Natchez took an early 3-0 lead.

South Jones answered in the bottom of the inning, though. A three-run double by Ben Welch highlighted a five-run stanza for the Braves. Welch, who led South Jones at the plate, finished with two hits and four RBI. His fourth RBI came in the fourth and gave South Jones its seventh and final run of the game.

Ricky Boleware and Bryson Sumrall also had collected multiple-hits in the win.
