Here are your Jasper County Week 7 predictions as picked by Zach Buckley.
Bay Springs at Taylorsville
This game is one of the most tense rivalries in south Mississippi.
Historically, Taylorsville has dominated Bay Springs. The Bulldogs were able to change the tide for a short two years, but that is long forgotten after the Tartars found an unstoppable quarterback, Ty Keyes. He dissected the Bulldog defense last year, and I look for him to do the same this year. Bay Springs defense started off hot, but they do not have what it takes to stop upper echelon offenses.
On offense, the Bulldogs have the ability to dominate, but the Tartar is simply better than what Bay Springs can produce. When all is said and done, Brady and his Bulldogs will take their rightful seat that they have held for many years…SECOND place to the Green and Gold.
Prediction: Taylorsville 30, Bay Springs 13.
Stringer at Resurrection Catholic
Last year I picked Resurrection to win. A matter of fact, I threw a little tounge-in-cheek by re-naming the Eagles as the Streak-stoppers.
This rivalry has shifted in dominance over the past few years. I have been told by a true Stringer insider that they would beat Resurrection by four touchdowns. Trust me, you cannot get anymore inside than this source. The Red Devils should burn the Eagles, but no more than two touchdowns.
Let’s hope I hear the “I told ya so” after the game.
Prediction: Stringer 27, Resurrection Catholic 14.
Collins at Heidelberg
Collins has some of the top rated offensive talent in 2A football, but they have yet to break the 40-point mark in a game this year.
Sadly, they could bust that number before the halftime show. The Oilers are young, and will only get better, but they will have a tough time from start to finish against the Tigers.
Prediction: Collins 48, Heidelberg 6.
Amite at Sylva-Bay Academy
Sylva-Bay has too many question marks at this point of the season. They started with a four-game win streak. Now they are on a two-game skid in the wrong direction.
Can they get back to winning ways? There is not a better chance than to answer some of the many questions about where the Saints are mentally than a win against Amite.
Prediction: Sylva Bay Academy 26, Amite 6.
